DYING TO KNOW | 75% of us have never had a conversation with our loved ones about our end of life wishes and values. Dying to Know Day is a national day of conversation and action about death, dying and bereavement, with communities around Australia running events and activities in support throughout August.

Our Townsville Office is hosting an event on the 29th August, “Dying to Know over High Tea”, at Tumbetin Tea Rooms, 565 University Road, Annandale from 10am - 12pm. This is an opportunity to learn more about how to have an end of life discussion, advance care planning and what is an emotional Will. Everyone is welcome, see flyer for more details.

NETWORKING | At this month's NQPHN Maternal & Child Health Networking meeting we welcomed new providers, Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, Balance Edmonton & Wuchopperen Health Service First Time Mums Program. Thank you to Gaynor Ellis from our Mental Health Team who also attended and provided information to update our providers around some of the new mental health programs being delivered across the far north.

The attendees provided program updates for their services and shared local knowledge with each other. The teams discussed ways to improve referral pathways and communication between health care providers across multiple geographical locations and touched on the benefits of digital health. The teams also talked about their level of knowledge of other health care services and programs in their own regions and tabled ideas on how to better promote their services amongst fellow health care providers. It’s so great to see the various health care providers working so closely and openly with one another across the cairns region!

We look forward to meeting again with the next Maternal and Child Health Networking Meeting being held on 2 October 2017 at 11:00am. We welcome new attendees always so please pass onto your networks.
